About this deal

Different chapters will often introduce new rules that have to be followed and not all of them will be repeated in later levels so you’ll often need to have the gameplay chapter book open and ready for reference most of the time. The cards do not carry over into the next chapter and so there is not much in terms of progress (players can carry over 1 new item into the next scenario, as well as any level up cards they have earned). Tattered Threads of Reason (Pick any ability and upon equipping this cloak, you own that ability until you unequip.

Perhaps it’s the influence of streaming services like Netflix and Prime, but designers seem keen to bring some of that grand narrative experience to the game table, unfolding plot and twists over multiple gaming sessions. And, I especially appreciate that, if you play like I do, then you must make these decisions from an uninformed perspective - which does a good job of representing the vantage point of your characters.

You’re not going to be waiting around too long for others to take their turns since you’re pretty much always working together to make each move. It's a simple fairy tale and I can see if you're reading it with a group of adults, you might feel a little self conscious or even embarrassed causing you to ham it up for effect which actually doesn't work well. To move, you will combine the numbers on the dice you roll with your movement rating and move up to that many spots. Plus, since most abilities require you to spend cheese to power them, I wasn’t able to use my special ability.Until the end of this round, after a mouse performs an action, that mouse may spend 1 cheese to perform 1 additional action. Although you could easily and conceivably swap players in and out, the whole point of a campaign game, for me, is in sharing the experience. The face of the clock is used to show wedges of a round cheese that once the sections are completed, will trigger an additional spawn of unwanted creatures.

I think that children would enjoy the story and could grasp the basics of the game play fairly easy. For anyone else coming across these comments, I’ve also been playing Mice and Mystics with my wife and two kids and we’ve really enjoyed it so far. Often quoted as being “simple yet engrossing”, its theme and story elements were enough to sell it to me. The campaign is split across eleven chapters in the storybook, ‘Sorrow and Remembrance’, with each chapter representing one game. And if you have kids ages 7+, I think this would make a great family game experience and is absolutely worth checking out.

If there are no minions on the board, remove all woulnds from all mice, then add a cheese to the wheel. Mice and Mystics can be played with 1-4 players (yes, you can play by yourself) and is suitable for ages 7+ (although at Shiny Games we’d recommend that at least one of the players was a bit older).
