But, when he finally gets what he’s yearned for all these years, a political scandal erupts around him and he is shunned into the shadows once again with no shred of a positive reputation left. The dual investigations in the book are handled with the same attention to detail so it never feels like one is just a page filler and as you get further into the book you can see surprising links to both cases. He gets caught in the crossfire between Putin's army and the Wolves, a rogue team of Ukraine partisans. The obvious connections may of course be chasing Adam in the future or possibly crossing paths again with our train robbing ladies. Not only is she concerned about finding the killer so many years later, but will she even be able to identify her?

It's not obvious during the read but, when you stop to reflect on book afterwards, it hits you what Lynda has done. La Plante was welcomed into the Crime-Thriller-Awards Hall-of-Fame in 2009, and later given an Honorary-Fellowship with the Forensic-Science-Society because of the amount of accuracy that she uses in portraying forensic-science in her work. I have read mostly all of your books Jane Tennison, widows, Royal flush, unholy murder, cold blood, buried, pure evil I can go on with my list. After a high-octane and lively Book 1 (‘Tennison’) and a quieter, more typical police procedural Book 2 (‘Hidden Killers’), I wasn’t sure where we’d be headed next with Jane Tennison’s police career! Hidden Killers is the second book in the Tennison series and Jane is coming to terms with what happened to her colleagues in the failed bank robbery. This is another quite long book, but the tension builds well throughout as Jane tries to stay one step ahead of the IRA.

The man ends up being charged with not only the indecent assaults but a rape too – and this is one occasion where Jane is suspicious of Moran’s way of working (he tells her a few blatant lies, but due to his position she’s unable to question them.I would definitely recommend all of the Tennison series, for great storylines and the fascination of watching such a successful woman taking her first steps into the police force. As with the previous books in the series, the 1970s setting is convincingly portrayed; as part of this, the reader is given an insight into some very dodgy 70s policing.

After finishing her studies, using the stage name Lynda Marchal, she appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company in a variety of productions, as well as popular television series including Z-Cars, Educating Marmalade, The Sweeney, The Professionals, and Bergerac. When an eccentric widow claims she is being stalked by her former lodger, Detective Jack Warr is the only person who believes her wild claims. As an actress she is perhaps best remembered as the hay-fever suffering ghost Tamara Novek in the BBC children's series Rentaghost. When we left her towards the end of book one, Jane had seen various areas of the police service at work and had her heart set on becoming a detective in the CID.
