Johnnie Walker Blue Label Glenury Royal is the third in the series of special releases crafted using irreplaceable "ghost" whiskies from a small number of iconic distilleries that closed many years ago. At the heart of this blend lies the highly sought-after whisky from the legendary Highland “ghost” distillery of Glenury Royal, a hidden treasure of the whisky world, which closed its doors in 1985. Inspired by the enigmatic and alluring umami flavour profile, they've masterfully handpicked whiskies, fusing salty, smoky, and savoury notes to achieve the perfect umami experience. Included in the blend are single malts from the short-lived Pittyvaich distillery, which closed its doors in 1993.

The Highland distillery was founded in 1825 by Captain Robert Barclay, a member of the British Parliament and the first man to walk one thousand miles in one thousand hours. The Glenury Royal distillery was closed in 1983, so those particular casks at the heart of this Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare edition must have been at least 35 years old.
