We can all take our memories of Mia into our future lives and be thankful for the short, but memorable time we each have spent with her. Mia suffered a stroke aged 21 after collapsing in the middle of the night despite being perfectly healthy. A highly touted forward from the Eastern Ranges, Mia Austin was a first -round draft selection for Carlton in 2022, and she didn’t take long to prove why the Blues rated her so highly. Mia has touched the lives of thousands of people and the World is worse off for not having her in it. Carole Van Niekerk said: "I’m absolutely devastated to hear this, for her, for her family and for her friends.

The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused. Her friend Ben, posted a statement on her Mountains for Mia page: "Unfortunately on Wednesday, Mia lost her life, in the place she loved the most, Abersoch. My clients' books include 'Letters from Lebanon' by Caroline Karkoutli and 'In the Blink of an Eye' by Mia Austin, as well as other non-fiction ghostwriting. Her parents were told the stroke would prove fatal, but she defied the odds and survived, travelling around the world and writing a book about her life story using just her eyes.Your experience within the NHS sent shivers through me as I have battled through exactly the same experiences with varying staff and carers. Unfortunately, her maiden campaign stopped there due to a syndesmosis injury, but even that was enough of a sample size to show what Carlton fans can hope to see from Austin for years to come in the Navy Blue. Although Austin’s education in the forward line has been enhanced by her experienced teammates, the young spearhead has seen her time under forwards coach Christina Polatajko as impactful, both as a player and as a person. THE RELIEF OF THOSE IN NEED, BY REASON OF YOUTH, AGE, ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR OTHER DISADVANTAGE. Austin, who worked for The Co-operative Travel in Heswall in Merseyside , passed away on Wednesday last week – two days before being named Merseyside Woman of the Year 2019 and Inspirational Woman of the Year.

She said there had been previous choking incidents, including another at the holiday park when she choked on a burger. In her words Mia has said, “I am excited about this”, “Becoming an Ambassador for A Stroke of Luck beats any achievement”. Mia was then diagnosed with an extremely rare condition known as ‘locked in syndrome’ which medics have described as “the closest thing to being buried alive”. During the inquest, the coroner heard Ms Austin suffered a stroke 10 years ago despite being perfectly healthy. An amazingly frank, honest, insight into how unless can turn your life round literally In the blink of an eye.

There’s a lot of pressure on her [Austin] on the outside, but we try to make sure that inside our four walls, she can control what she can control,” Polatajko said. When Mia turned up at the Diner she was all dressed up and immediately started flirting with Roman to make him have lunch with her. Mia was nominated for Merseyside Woman of the year 2019 and was announced the winner on Friday and this is a recognition for all of her charity work, campaigning, writing a book and being a role model for thousands of people thank you for every single person who voted for her you have no idea how much it would of meant to her to know she had won we just wish she had of been there to see it.
