for every other roll you take- if there are any Fox Paws you are out and your score is zero. If there are no Fox Paws, then you can add the total to your overall score

I had a rabbit as a first pet, when I was about nine, and this book has made me see these creatures in a different light. It's definitely a book to stimulate the imagination.

Keep in touch

The first book in the series follows the adventures of Podkin, his sister Paz and their baby brother Pook.

My son discovered Podkin One-Ear earlier this year. He received the first two as present and we bought him the third almost instantly when he started reading. This is one of the first books he read that didn't have too many drawings and also where there was death of characters and where he actually kept reading at a rather fast pace. He also cannot stop talking about it (he's reading book 5 at the moment and spoiling too many things, but I love it when he's so enthusiastic about books so I just let him and try to forget :P). This book is about a rabbit that only has one ear and is called podkin. On Christmas eve a bard comes and tells the rabbit king a story. I found the book to be fairly fast-paced, atmospheric and poignant in scenes. I do especially like Podkin, and his character. Although, I feel like there wasn't much depth to his character and the reader would enjoy hearing more about him and his past. The theme is incredibly dark in parts, which made the story rather creepy. I loved this element though. When I first saw this book, I thought it was aimed at younger children because the main character is a rabbit. However it is not, it is set in a future where humans no longer exist and rabbits have evolved to be human-like. It is a story within a story as Podkin's tale is told by a storyteller and some chapters are about him. Despite this, it is fast paced and I couldn't put it down as I was desperate to see what happened next. The author used such great description that I easily imagined Podkin and the storyteller's world. The characters were believable and it was interesting to see them develop as their adventure progressed. For example, Podkin's challenge to become less self-centred and be a better rabbit. I liked all the characters, but my favourite character was Paz. She thought that everything shouldn't be just about men and she felt she had a lot more to offer than do chores and get married. I would recommend this book to everyone, it is awesome!its about a little rabbit who only has one ear and his name is podkin and on Christmas eve a rabbit comes and tells him a cheerful Christmas story. I think it would be suitable for ages 8-10. I would recommend this book because it is a good book and fun to enjoy. The World Of Podkin One-Ear (Longburrow in the US) is a series of epic children’s fantasy stories set in a world of rabbits. There are currently six books published, with another arriving in September 2023. There will be nine books overall. The Legend of Podkin One-Ear I decided to give this book a 10 out of 10 as I love twist at the end and the storyline is amazing. The picture, writing ratio is good, with the pictures showing good graphics. I never wanted to put this book down, I wanted to keep reading. When Podkin, Pook and Paz escape from Munbury warren at the beginning of The Legend of Podkin One-Ear, the bard says ‘That terrible night will only be remembered by those poor little rabbits, and they will never speak of it again.’ What do you think happened? Could you write an extra chapter about their escape from the Gorm and their night in the frozen woods?
