It’s only now that we can see that panoply of private Kirby worlds and recognize that they are as real as our own. It's mostly Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Deserted Island Diary, as you can see, but it's also got an excerpt from a Kirby series.

Kirby Manga Mania - Kotaku 5 Messed Up Things That Happen In Kirby Manga Mania - Kotaku

Nintendo fans will want to keep an eye out for the free manga up for grabs on Comic Book Day this year.Kirby later wakes up, forgetting what transpired, but that image of innocent people crawling out of Kirby’s mouth is permanently seared into my brain. Kirby isn't really the cute, loveable pink puff that he is in the games - he's kind of the ass of all of the chapters, for the most part: he causes all the problems and makes everybody uncomfortable. In the first installment of manga-ka Hirokazu Hikawa’s manga strip that appears in Kirby Manga Mania, Dream Land’s King Dedede is hosting a picnic feast beneath the cherry blossom trees when Kirby inhales everyone’s food, gets drunk—or, um, “loopy”, I guess, given that the bottle he gulps down is labeled “Loopy Juice”—and proceeds to wreck the party, inhaling several picnic-goers, cornering King Dedede to give him heartfelt repetitive advice, badly singing karaoke, flipping a table, and ultimately collapsing into unconsciousness. It was my first time reading any sort of graphic novel since I wasn’t allowed to as a kid and I’m glad I chose this one.

But what if they go a different route entirely, and we still get an Oddyssey sequel or original new 3D Mario this generation, while the next console actually launches with a brand-new Animal Crossing? Although Kirby quickly susses out Kapar’s ruse, the chaotic pink elder-god decides he wants to switch places with Dedede too, and chases him with a broom while wearing his face. When developing Kirby’s Dream Land, Iwata Satoru liked the fact that anyone could draw Kirby, and Sakurai Masahiro wanted to make a game that anyone could play. In most of the strips, Dedede is more-or-less minding his own business as he was in the initial one with the picnic—perhaps he’s readying his castle for an upcoming typhoon, or playing with his toy robot pet—when Kirby enters the picture, generally causing huge problems for Dedede.I’m glad I did, because I’m sure they wouldn’t have liked it (I ended up getting them Star Allies instead). The real protagonist of the Kirby strips, in a reversal of the dynamics of many of the franchise’s games, is King Dedede, the often-selfish, penguin-like anthropomorphic bird that serves as several games’ antagonist.

It was another gag-filled manga, which it clearly states on the back, however I was not expecting it to be like this, very similar to the Animal Crossing manga. I think most readers go into it expecting the soft "hiii~" of our spherical hero, only to find a toddler with godlike powers. True to that, this collection of Kirby manga is more than a quick cash grab or commodity tie-in as many of these stories are joyful and entertaining.

My exposure to Kirby is limited (I’ve only fully played one game), but I had no trouble understanding the dynamics and characters.

While it may be different from the games the 1st manga volume brings a lot of charm to the characters with some good translation Kirby's still cute and Dedede is well. When the votes are about to get tallied, Kirby inhales the people who are in camp Dedede, winning the election and becoming king. There’s an entire chapter about Kirby and Dedede reenacting the American Revolution, and there’s a brief joke about Dedede getting arrested for pedophilia (it’s weird, but not nearly as weird as it sounds). Even devoid of context, he evokes a gentle possibility that only good things will happen to him and his friends, the details of which are almost all up to you and your daydreams. Manga Kirby doesn’t fit with his portrayals in the games, where he gently and dependably defeats a cosmic horror or two.Kirby reacts with his new manga catchphrase, “pee-poh,” before descending upon the masses and making a break for their food. Hikawa selected the stories from his personal favorites, making the books equivalent to "best of" or "greatest hits" releases, with added bonus content like making-of pages. Regardless of how limiting it would make crafting short stories around him, you might expect a Kirby manga to maintain the character’s propensity for baby talk, which has been a staple of his characterization throughout the games. He threatens to eat Dedede, sings karaoke poorly, gets existential, repeats the phrase “Lemme tell you about life” (he never actually tells Dedede about life), and performs a “trick” by eating the picnic goers and performing 10 copy ability attacks on the King.
