It started to seem like the whole purpose of the book was to convince Americans that immigration is a good thing (which it is, though obviously not so much for the suffering people who must flee their homes and come to a country where half of us despise them). Galloway makes a reasonable but facile case for his take on enlightened capitalism - a small 'c' conservativism that seeks to strike a balance between the driving innovation (which is what the accumulation of capital should do) vs ensuring public weal (routinely at odds with the short-term thinking driving 'shareholder value'). God, I'm in awe of smart people, even if more often than not these days they just depress the hell out of me.

Overall, Galloway's book was not very remarkable to me, but I did enjoy the author's narration of the audiobook! My hope is that the visible landfall of progress, citizenship, and perspective provide determination and direction. It should be looked at subjectively, and although statistics don't lie, how they were obtained can be a bit deceitful. Studies have found a direct correlation between decreases in psychiatric hospital beds and rising homelessness.

Tanking rents may not be great news for landlords but they can clear the way for more people to move into an area for job opportunities. Though, I would say that I appreciated Galloway's attempts to give sound solutions to the problems in the United States through the creation of unity.
