Description

According to Fleming, the original Chitty Bang-Bang was built in 1920; it used a pre-War Mercedes chassis with a six-cylinder Maybach military aeronautical engine that was typically fitted to Zeppelins. The engine had four overhead valves per cylinder and twin Zenith carburetors; the car was more than 5 short tons (4.5t) with a bonnet 8ft (2.4m) long, finished in grey. [1] :Foreword Green, Tony. Not that they are some crazy new feature like working suspension or steering, but it’s just the fact that Husky went to such great lengths to make this 1/64 replica as close as possible to the actual movie car — and that’s something we can all appreciate. A novelisation of the film written by John Burke was published at the time of the film's release. It basically followed the film's story, but there were some differences in tone and emphasis; for example, the novelisation mentioned that Caractacus had difficulty coping after the death of his wife and made it clearer that the sequences including Baron Bomburst were fantasy.
