Some Magic Side characters compare Academy City's goal of creating a Level 6 esper to people trying to ascend the Tree of Life, which, seeing as Aleister Crowley is the city's creator, only makes sense. The conflict in Devil May Cry 5 centers around the Qliphoth, an ancient demonic tree that gathers human blood over thousands of years before bearing a single fruit able to imbue demons with divine power. The last of these fruits was consumed by Mundus, who used this power to become King of the Underworld. After Mundus's defeat at the hands of Sparda, the Legendary Dark Knight placed a seal upon the Qliphoth, preventing it from manifesting in the human world and producing any more fruit. With the seal broken in the present day, the Qliphoth sprouts in Red Grave City as an upstart conqueror by the name of Urizen seeks to claim its fruit's power for his own.

In the 3rd volume of Toaru Majutsu no Index, Index compares the goals of Academy City, which is to achieve SYSTEM, or One who is not a god yet reaches the will of the Heavens, to the teachings of the Kabbalah, specifically she referred to Ein Sof Ohr, Ein Sof, Ein. [1]

FAQs About The Qliphoth:

The ascension-seeking Keter Dominion's ruling archailect is just called Keter (the empire is named after the god). Not long after, Nacht's Shadow Magic spell dissipates, causing the castle to be engulfed by fire and ice, leaving the mage severely burnt and pierced by frost spikes. [6] Nacht enters Unite Mode: Gallus × Felis and attempts to seal away himself, Lilith, and Nahamah in his Monument of Atonement spell, but the devils break out with their Demon Ice and Demon Fire Magic, covering most of their bodies with freezing ice and scorching fire respectively. They restrain Nacht's arms with their magic, causing him to cry out in agony, the sound of which delights the devils. Wanting to hear Nacht's final scream, Nahamah reaches for Nacht's throat, but Asta arrives and severs the devil's hand. [7] Lilith laughs with excitement as they have not faced anything so entertaining for centuries in the underworld. Lilith and Nahamah trap Asta in a twister of ice and fire, but Asta cuts through it and tries to behead Nahamah. The devils disappear into their own magic and then both launch projectiles at Asta, while debating which of them will hit and kill him first. However, Asta pulls out the Demon-Destroyer Sword and neutralizes the devils' magic. [8] Devil May Cry 5, Nero: "Enough, dammit! The Underworld is taking over, and we need to do something before it's too late." The basis model for the method of decoding the Book of the Law, which Orsola Aquinas devised but was later stated to be incorrect, involves Temurah, a form of permutation from Kabbalah, using a special form that has special rule which was closely related to the number of lines in the book. After the second gate to the underworld opens, Lucifero takes control of all the lower-ranked devils from the first two levels and pulls them into a large mass, shaping it into a monstrous form for himself around the Tree of Qliphoth. [6] After Asta and Liebe cut through the monster and destroy the ritual, Adramelech appears next to the Resistance, who are celebrating their victory, and advises them to run since Lucifero manifestation is half-complete. The monster's leftover flesh then compresses into a body for Lucifero, who forces the humans to prostrate themselves before him. [7] Tabata accidentally drew the underworld as having nine levels instead of the intended seven. [20] This is corrected in Volume 27. Central state of unity of the 10 Sephirot, also called the Tree of Life. Daath is an invisible sephirah and it is sometimes not considered as a sephirah. Samael – The Poison Of God: This realm represents the dark side of intellect and dissolves all reason and logic. Your patterns of thinking will be tested and you may feel a bit insane here. This realm is known as the “Desert of Insanity and Confusion” and in my experience this is certainly true.

The Spheres Of The Qliphoth:

Orion's Arm features Kabbalistic symbolism extensively, via the In-Universe philosophy of Neohermeticism. Ten of the most notable and powerful empires of the Terragen Sphere are each identified with one of the Sephirah, and are thus collectively referred to as the Sephirotic Empires. The AI deities (known as archailects) who rule said empires are often named after the appropriate sefirah, and they and their empire identify with its associated abstract concept: Judging by what we've been shown by his abilities during his summoning ritual, i think that his attribute is that of Corruption/Corrosion magic. I saw how other people theorized it was death or something relating to mist/smoke, i personally think that death magic would be too overpowered for someone ranked below gravity, space, time and curse-warding and also hard for the author to make into actual abilities that didnt instantly kill the opponent, i also think that the mist/smoke is only a manifestation of the powers of corruption/corrosion.
