I'm starting to think there are no good vinyl releases of this album, nothing beats the 24bit lossless files you can get online.

There are many moments of sheer Cocteaus beauty and power, including the title track, with its great chorus. Released in 1990, Heaven or Las Vegas was the band's most commercially successful release, reaching number seven in the UK album charts. A rare thing with the Cocteau's, just about understandable lyrics, but still with that ethereal winsomeness that is such a trade-mark of all their albums.

At least there aren't many pops or distracting surface noise issues, but I'd have rather had those than have a brilliant album be reduced to a shell of what it could have been. Sure there will always be CT fans that will put forward their intellectual preferences but don't let them put you off. with Fraser’s famously incoherent vocals at their most intelligible, it’s the product of hours of obsessive studio craft.Coming not long after original bassist Will Heggie had departed the band, the chemistry between remaining members Elizabeth Fraser and Robin Guthrie was flourishing and by moving the band on from the starkness of their debut, they were now making the music that would help them define the decade ahead; her wordless, dreamlike vocals a powerful instrument over his lush, textured guitars their trademark. Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. The album master on vinyl is very bassy and sounds bloated on my stereo system, but through some nice bright headphones, it's manageable. Fraser simply captivates; her vocals are the clearest, most direct they've ever been, purring with energy and life. Some creasing, sticker damage and general wear to the sleeve and some visible surface marks to the record.

Raymonde and Guthrie would complete fully produced instrumentals, with the beats coming from Akai MPC 60 MK1 and EMU SP1200 drum machines, Fraser arriving later to add her enigmatic contributions.Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. Language - Regardless of country of origin all tracks are sung in English, unless otherwise stated in our description. The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often eschew any recognisable language. This was the last Cocteau Twins recording to appear on the 4AD label, and was simultaneously released on Capitol Records in the United States. Ethereal Downbeat Electronica - ‘Heaven Or Las Vegas’ followed in 1990 and was to become their most commercially successful release, reaching Number 7 in the UK Album Charts.

This results in an almost infinite sonic template as she uses her wonderfully unique gossamer voice coupled with Robin Guthrie's sublime sequenced guitars and effects with the fluid bass playing of Simon Raymonde and that ever trusty Roland which almost sounds like a real drummer On Ice Blink Luck. With tracks as majestic as the title track, ‘Cherry-Coloured Funk’ and ‘Iceblink Luck’, who’s to argue? Iceblink luck” was featured as b-side on a 1990 Japan-only release of the single “Athol-Brose” (from the LP Blue Bell Knoll).Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Heaven or Las Vegas was released in 1990 and went on to become their most commercially successful release, reaching number seven in the UK album charts. The reissue only scratches the surface of the sound involved in this pressing- the reissue lacks any of the passion and depth of this lp; it just sits there where this pressing surrounds you with their sound. Need more time to compare but this sounds perhaps clearer than my CD, the drums are maybe slightly better better defined but my first impression is that it does sound overly shrill and exhausting at times. A promotional-only single of “Heaven or Las Vegas” was released, which featured an edit of the song (the version featured in the video), backed with “Dials.
