It made me reflect on who my five people would be and how they’ve impacted and continue to impact my life. During her formative years in boarding school, Allegra never quite fit in and she resorted to self-harm. I’m ve read almost all of the author’s books and always looking forward to what she comes up with next. Freckles is unlike the other Cecelia Ahern’s novels I’ve read for its lack of the signature quirky otherworldly elements, but it grabbed me from the beginning with Allegra connecting her freckles on her arms to form constellations. A quick Dystonia Around the World challenge update, dystonia attacks and migraines have slowed down the reading but currently on book five.

She and her books have won numerous awards, including the Irish Book Award for Popular Fiction for The Year I Met You. While I understand why it was so many pages long (evaluating the five people that exist in your life and the ones you want in your life can’t be a quick process), I imagine it would be tedious to go through the dead end characters while actually reading. She brings the towns and cities to life; creating such interesting characters that I want to walk down the street and meet for myself. Allerdings glaube ich, dass durch die langsame Erzählweise diese Geschichte nicht für jeden sein wird. This is a life affirming and inspiring story, a warm embrace, a hand to hold and the resounding chance to join the dots and journey to the stars.

First, if you are a feminist or really consider how Allegra came into the world ,you will see that it is completely wrong for a professor to have a relationship with a student. As a neurotypical reader, I felt this was a good representation of a neurodivergency and gave an accurate glimpse into her world but with all books with neurodivergent characters the true test is how those with autism feel. I’m drawn to writing about loss, to characters that have fallen and who feel powerless in their lives. Thank you Random Thing Tours for inviting me to this tour and providing an advanced copy for me to review and give my honest and unbiased opinion. This instantly makes her examine her five people and what their characters say about who she is, but she also realises that she can choose to become whoever she wants to be by choosing a very specific set of five people. Cecelia Ahern’s storytelling prowess, humour, and ability to capture the essence of life make this novel a captivating and heartwarming read.

Sometimes a girl just needs her dad, and it was this type of scene near the end that brought me to tears.Just as she once joined the freckles on her skin to mirror the constellations in the night sky, she must once again look for connections. There’s always something so warm and familiar about reading a Cecelia Ahern book, and Freckles is no different. Freckles is Allegra Bird’s journey as she filters through the turmoil in her mind and tries to make sense of the world she now inhabits. I loved the interactions so much, the inner dialogue was perfect for a younger adult life Freckles and all her adventurous story to find herself and her life in a world full of strangers but also people close to her.
