Description

Timer/auto shut-off –It can be really helpful if the heated throw has a timer setting or an auto shut-off so that if you fall asleep it turns off and doesn't keep running and wasting electricity.

Parent tester Rachael uses this heated throw and said, "The initial cost put me off a bit, however knowing it costs around 1p a night to run makes me feel better about it. And whilst the wind howls and the rain drives outside on a cold evening, what better way is there to snuggle up on the sofa than under a heated blanket or throw?

Maybe having a heated throw on the sofa isn't enough, perhaps you want to be able to work from home or have your arms free to be able to get things done whilst keeping warm. This could be down to its Intelliheat technology, which monitors your body temperature and the temperature of the room to continuously keep you and your bed at the same cosy level – impressive, right! All the heated blankets on our list have auto-shut off settings, which turn them off after a certain amount of time, minimising the risk of any accidents. Heated blankets, also known as electric blankets are used for sleep and are often laid on top of your mattress to keep you toasty all night.

Please note: If you wear a pacemaker please contact a medical professional or your pacemaker provider to ensure this product is compatible with your device. There is quite a big difference in how snuggly each one is and underwires are more noticeable in some of them. The poncho has 9 different heat settings and 9 time settings so you can set the temperature and time exactly how you want. It’s a speedy heater too, warming up in just 10 minutes (although this was longer than the advertised five minutes) and it distributed heat impeccably, even on the warmest of its nine settings. With double the controls comes double the energy usage, but this electric blanket still only costs 4p to run per night.

The temperature wasn’t as stable as most we tested, but its controls were simple to use and it washed well.Choose one that you like the feel and look of, however, if you want to be extra warm then a thicker throw is naturally going to keep you warmer, even when it's not on. Heat-up time We attach temperature sensors to six different locations on each electric blanket or heated throw and record how quickly each blanket heats up over a 20-minute period. With its herringbone detailing, this electric throw will look the part whether it's draped over you or your sofa. We also tested an electric blanket with sleeves and a foot pouch, allowing you to essentially wear it and retain more heat.
