A just about Fine set with a knock to the lower corner of volume three and the odd spot of foxing throughout. Original blue cloth, gilt-panelled spines with red sheep labels lettered in gilt, front covers lettered and ruled in gilt, top edges blue, blue and white endbands.

This is the author's last great work, only available some twenty years after he wrote the first draft, which then lay dormant whilst he attended to National and Parliamentary matters. S. first edition of this particular work – quite striking as well as strikingly different in appearance from its British first edition counterpart – seems entirely appropriate.
