Wow, the HANGOVER from this book is legit! I still can't shake it, and my thoughts keeps changing accordingly! Glow reads like a (slightly, long winded) love letter, from Raven Kennedy to fans of the series. It is essentially a character study, not a major plot advancer. Was it the most dynamic storyline? Certainly not. But if you truly love AURIP, have wanted to know every last detail about these chars and honestly just crave basking in the moments of their glory, then this book is immensely satisfying. She enjoys writing all kinds of books, because each one brings a different experience. Whatever the genre, she hopes she creates characters you can root for. The Character dev is off the charts in this book! Slade is the main focus and we pretty much get it all (I also really enjoyed learning about Ryatt and their family dynamic). Additionally we get new POV chapters from Queen Kaila, Osrik and Rissa. However, these chapters end up being very few and far between. Especially with Kaila, my gripe is that we didn’t get enough! She ends up with maybe three chapters total I think? All at the beginning of the book, which seems like such a missed opportunity. I just needed more. And the way in which her chapters so abruptly come to an end makes it feel like Kaila was an ultimately forgotten, afterthought. This is the captivating second book of The Plated Prisoner Series. It’s an adult epic fantasy story blending romance, intrigue, and beautiful imagery. Return to the seductive world of magic inspired by the tale of King Midas, and get caught up in the world of Orea.

Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold.

Retailers:

And him and his dirty talk…😮‍💨 Just when I thought he couldn’t get any dirtier…And Auren opening up more just makes it even hotter. 🥵

Because these bars I’m kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage. But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I’d never left. Stars equals I am buying a physical copy of this book. I will read this book at least 10 more times, it is the best ever.So I will fight for him and he will kill for me, and if we need to become the villains, then so be it. this is so easily a five star read. the way it makes me ugly cry says more than enough as to how connected i am to this series. Book 3 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, fated romance, and insurmountable greed.

I’m now in a strange kingdom surrounded by liars, with no allies of my own, but I won’t sit idly by and let myself wither. No, there’s something that’s bloomed from the pit of my repression. Something dark. Something angry. Her smile breaks through like the sunlight above us. “The song of home,” she says. “The sun is singing the song of home.” The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, and wiped out Seventh Kingdom in the process. He has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes—his eyes are the most compelling of all. I may be out of my cage, but I’m not free, not even close. In the game of kings and armies, I’m the gilded pawn. The question is, can I out maneuver them?

I’m sitting here. Staring at this. Trying to figure out how to put into words everything this book was to me. All I’ve got is masterpiece. This will be a SPOILER FREE review but WILL contain large plot spoilers for the previous 3 books so proceed with caution if you’re not caught up with the series.

Everything is amplified in this book. The spice is OFF the charts, we gain far more POV chapters (some of which are VERY exciting), we get WAY more Wrath interaction, we get a new budding couple who I absolutely adore, we finally connect the dots to all of the questions we have about Auren’s past after her time with Zakir, we get the true fleshing out of a relationship between Auren and Slade, we get 110% more brother content between Slade and Fake Rip (his brother, Ryatt), we get 210% more emotions, we travel to the very ends of Orea (literally), and encounter far more…interesting characters, there is just SO much MORE in this book. I did a bit of skimming at times because the story was so in depth and there were characters I just didn’t even care to read their perspective. That is my only complaint in this book. slade will forever have my heart. he has truly met his match with auren and they have a love so grand and unparalleled that i truly believe it could withstand anything and last in every lifetime. everyone deserves to be fought for the way slade fights for auren, to be the villain for them not and to them🥹 but i’m left with another cliffhanger and i have so many questions. it hurts in the best way and i’m so excited for gold. i already know it’s going to be everything i need and more. This book has quite a few spicy scenes, a lot of emotion, and towards the end really hooks into you. The character development is so fantastic and you get so drawn into your favorite characters and how they change. star equals a bad book. I barely finished this book and I will never recommend anyone waste valuable book reading time on this book. stars equals “Meh.” I will not read this book again, it had a lot of problems and I did not care for it. I’ve raved over this series for a while now. This is one of those series that I didn’t really care for early on but it grew on me. The character development and the world building in this series is amazing. I especially love the twists you never see coming.
