A dry mouth happens when the glands that produce saliva do not work properly. Common causes of this problem are ageing, stress, anxiety and certain medicines. The slow dissolving pastilles contain malic acid (0.8%), a recognised sialogogue and fruit flavours which stimulate natural saliva production in the same way as food. The pastilles are sugar-free and containcalcium lactate and sodium phosphate for active remineralisation of the teeth and which act as buffers to the acidity of the product. Salivix® Spray contains malic acid, which is a recognised sialagogue (the medical term for a substance that promotes the secretion of saliva).¹Dry mouth, or ‘xerostomia’ in medical terms, is dry mouth resulting from either reduced saliva flow, or no saliva flow at all.
