We're taking a look back through 2019 by focusing on one of our all-time favorite photographic subjects – Belvedere, a rescue pup who joined the DPReview team last fall and graced many of our sample galleries over the past 12 months. You can get a firm grip on it with one hand, but need to be careful not to obstruct the lens if using both. megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and FUJINON’s 5x optical image stabilized zoom lens starting from 28mm which can be doubled to 10x using Fujifilm’s Intelligent Digital Zoom technology.

In addition to the durable design and build, the XP140 has a FUJINON lens that boasts the company's unique colour reproduction technology and uses a 16. Using it in the fully automatic mode, the scene recognition kicks in to good effect in the vast majority of situations. With no dedicated mains charger provided, the battery is charged within the camera body itself, with a mains plug and detachable USB cable provided for the purpose of juicing up said cell. On the right as you’re looking at it there’s a sealed door to the battery, card and ports compartment.Editorial independence means being able to give an unbiased verdict about a product or company, with the avoidance of conflicts of interest. The weatherproof construction of this digital camera protects it against adverse weather, dust and moisture.

While the Ricoh was a hard-to-miss bright orange, our Fuji XP140 arrives in an equally arresting luminous green and black (officially 'Lime') energy-drink-like combination that it would hard to miss even if dropped to the bottom of a pool or, alternatively, tumbled out of a pocket onto the snow when skiing. That, and the other buttons can be programmed to one of a number of functions including ISO, white balance, focus mode and movie mode. There is no need to worry about water, sand or dropping the camera, making it the perfect first camera for children as well. The XP140 is now capable of movie recording in 4K quality for the first time in its series' history. The Fujifilm XP140 is a compact, tough model with a 16-megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor and 5x optical zoom. The XP140 also upgrades its predecessor’s low resolution slow motion video modes to 720p HD resolution. Overall, the Finepix XP140 is a compact rugged camera that would appear to offer serviceable image quality and the ability to go a significant depth underwater.

This really is a fuss free camera that you can pick up and start shooting with straight away – for when you want to be focused on the action, rather than just camera settings.SMILE mode detects when you’re showing off your pearly whites, while Face Auto Shutter mode takes the pic when you’re facing the camera. That, of course, is something all cameras suffer from, but the XP140 is worse in this respect than the TOUGH TG-6, which has a 3 inch slightly more detailed 1040k dot screen and the smaller, lower resolution screen on the COOLPIX W150. In addition to improved waterproofing which adds 5 metres to the depth of the older model, the headline feature is a new 4K video mode.
