Which Aberdeen council bampot entered into a deal with the now-in-administration Countesswells developers to build a secondary in the area? How many aeons before that could have been filled with local teenagers? Sadly, it now seems contributions from the housebuilders from it can’t be used for the new Hazlehead. Shambles. I cried, I laughed, I swooned! A gorgeous friends-to-lovers romance filled with wise explorations of love, loss and self-forgiveness. Laura Jane Williams, bestselling author of Our Stop Eleanor and Fin's stories hook you right from the off, making you root for them as individuals as well as for their sizzling, gorgeous romance that builds throughout the book. Funny, heart-wrenching and simply brilliant. Beth Reekles, bestselling author of The Kissing Booth series This book is told from past and present perspectives. So, we meet our leading couple in numerous situations and how they end up where they are now. This is an emotionally driven story, and even though it revolves around the difficult topic of divorce, the story transmits more hope than regret. Celine and Mark are very fleshed out characters, Mason is as great with character development as she is with prose. The mental struggles the two face head-on in Love Market are realistic and poignant.

I always enjoy getting comments about my books (especially lovely ones!), and am always willing to attend your book club or do a phone conference if you'd like to have me.The visual aspect is where the game differs the most from the original. And of course this is a more than obvious comment considering that only 4 console generations have passed. But this is the great detail that preserves a game so that more generations can play it. The scenarios, both cities, towns, streets and dungeons, although small in size, are full of detail, highlighting many of the elements that may not have looked as good in the SNES version due to the limitations of the console at the time. There are also a number of completely new cutscenes that, although not many, add a new perspective to the game. Don't even get me started on the random relationship with Ben. It was so obvious that Eleanor wasn't into him... Not replying to his texts for days and weeks. I'm not sure what 35 year old man would then ask someone to be his girlfriend after that. It was just weird and I didn't really understand the point of the relationship for the story. No. I shall not spoil it for you, and tell you that they live happily ever after, but I will say that I finished the book with a smile on my face, but not before shedding some tears, too. Veteran performer Matthew Kelly waxed lyrical about Aberdeen and Aberdonians in the EE last week, during his run at His Majesty’s in that superb comedy Noises Off. Only later did I discover he chose a different “victim” every night. So, tonight, Matthew, I’m going to be the wifie you embarrassed to within a piddle of her bladder!

Note: My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book for review purposes. Losh, that made me titter, given he was responsible for the most embarrassing episode I’ve experienced in my beloved theatre. The author's writing is incredible. She has a lyrical prose. The words just flow. The author, Carol Mason knows how to keep the interest of her readers. Good character development. However, the story-line did not exactly work out for me; I could not connect with the main character, Celine. Her feelings were genuine. Still, her confusion in the face of the events that she faced made me somehow resent her. On the other hand, Mark was an admirable character. I loved how he dealt with his divorce. I admire his resilience. Also, Celine's sister, Jacqui was a vibrant character. I loved how she went around chasing her dreams. Eleanor and Finley have been best friends since they were dots, then life happened, and Fin disappeared from Eleanor's life. This is the first book I have read by Carol Mason and though I found the characters believable, I did not find Celine especially likable, though I really liked the character of Mike and could not help but root for him to end up with the person he deserved (even if that person ended up being Celine). Carol Mason did manage to avoid predictability so the reader is not sure whom Celine will end up with until the novel’s end.

The Last Time We Met is a beautifully written, thought provoking, and emotive story. I would recommend this book for anybody who likes JoJo Moyes or Dinah Jefferies. The other part about this book that made me furious was the brushing over of Eleanor being emotionally abused by Oliver. The way it was handled was weird and especially the way those closest to her handled it. I hated Sal, nagging her "best friend" to get out and date after 3 months of being single from a 16 year relationship where she was emotionally abused and then abandoned... Like what no. The pressure from all fronts for Eleanor to date again was just weird and I feel like it was used to move the plot forward but it just made me hate the characters. I would have liked to see more honest conversations with Eleanor and her younger sister to show that not everyone in her life treated her like that... Aged thirteen, best friends Eleanor and Fin are inseparable. Convinced it will always be this way they make a pact - to go to university together, always live near each other, and if they're both single at 35 they'll get married. The most notable feature of this story is the authors writing style. Mason truly succeeded in giving Celine an engaging voice throughout the story. The writing really wraps the reader into the story. Not only that, Celine is a holistic, down-to-earth and relate-able character. That Commission paper is an analysis of the challenge of globalisation and how we meet it, how we meet it both as member states and how we meet it as the European Union. Fast forward to fifteen or so years later, and Eleanor is feebly trying to get over an awful break-up with her long-standing partner Oliver. No amounts of tea and sympathy from her mother, sister Freya, or even her best friend Sal are helping her get over him. So much covered, from alcoholism to estrangement, and how hiding your feelings can be the worst thing you could ever do. The book was also injected with some humour, with entertaining support characters who were involved with interesting situations themselves. A beautifully-written, emotionally rich story about hope, love and new beginnings Lynsey James, author of The Single Dad's Handbook
