This special hoodie can be given to a young person or adult who’s shown resilience, tenacity and courage – in other words, that ‘never give up’ spirit. Bear Grylls dives into what he has learned through work, family life, the Scouts, faith, running his own business, working with celebrities, being famous, and so much more in his autobiography. I like his mentality and his outlook on life. His personal motto is Never Give Up. His outlook is “Improvise, adapt, overcome…and above all, never give up.” I think my favorite part of the writing was the incorporation of snippets of his relationships with his family and the people that he has worked with on different projects, as well as the real risks that they took while filming the shows. He has an authentic voice that comes through in his writing. With that said, my critiques are that the formatting was awful, making it difficult to read the eARC on Kindle. That has nothing to do with the content of the book but was distracting. I have seen the final copy and it does not have any of this and includes photos.

It's never really clear what drives him. I finished the book not having any sense of why he does so many crazy things and why he thinks others should do them. It seemed like a lot of wasted energy and ultimately (though he never said it) he seems like an unhappy person who can never just "be." He claims to be anxious over all sorts of things, from giving speeches or being on camera to meeting famous people, yet I'm not sure how much of that is an act. He can welcome a poisonous bite from a snake but claim to not want to be in front of a TV camera for an interview after decades of making millions off television? Never Give Up: A Life of Adventure by Bear Grylls is an autobiography by the celebrity adventurer. Mr. Grylls is a former SAS soldier, Chief Scout, and a TV presenter on survival-type shows. Raamat vastas pooleldi mu ootustele. Taking an environmentally friendly approach to the classic hoodie, this product is crafted using 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled polyester. The Eco range of Scouts casual clothing not only makes you look good but makes you feel good about how they are produced. The chapters are fairly short, each one practically its own story or answer to a frequently asked question. I really enjoyed his stories about the celebrities he has taken into the wild and how each of those adventures is set up. Bear also takes some chapters to delve into more personal thoughts on things like fear, faith, and family, and his words are often very inspiring. His family is so important to him, and it was really nice to get to know them better and see how he makes family time a priority, even with his booming career. Admired by millions as the star of Man vs. Wild and the acclaimed NGC series Running Wild, global adventurer Bear Grylls has explored places few would dare to go. Now, he shares time-honored lessons for leading an adventurous life through stories drawn from his personal experiences, as well as encounters with a diverse group of celebrities who have participated in his wildly popular television shows.

I recommend these two books for everybody who likes inspiring people, cool stories about things that have happened to them (or in this case: what they have done and made happen) and general positive outlook of life.

There is a very brief mention of his faith. At some point in his life (he doesn't say when) he had some type of spiritual conversion and he mostly says it involved his following a "higher power." Then later in the book there is a one-sentence mention of his Christianity, but he never explains what that is. He makes an anti-religion statement, which I found odd since it contradicted his support of people having faith, but he never fleshes out what he actually believes so it's too generic to help anyone. He first hosted the hit Discovery Channel series Man vs. Wild, which became one of the most-watched shows on the planet, reaching an estimated 1.2 billion viewers. Since then he has gone on to host more extreme adventure TV shows across more global networks than anyone else in history, including Running Wild with Bear Grylls and the Emmy Award-nominated interactive Netflix show You vs. Wild. Bear Grylls has always sought out adventure. From childhood escapades to would-record-breaking expeditions, to his infamous survival challenges, Bear has spent a lifetime in the wild. Along the way, Bear opens up about his most personal challenges, discovers the true value of adventure, and embodies the enduring power of courage, kindness and a never give up spirit. This hoodie can be given as an encouragement or ‘well done’ to anyone who’s struggling with something, persevering, or making a particularly strong effort.
