So they set-to stripping them down, repainting and re-assembling both port and starboard intakes a task they completed in the summer of 2005, see Figs 2-3 below. I was worried that the book would lose my interest or that the aviation terminology would be hard to follow, but Bannister done a fantastic job of explaining the terminology and keeping the reader invested. An excellent read. For a change, I listened to the audiobook version, narrated flawlessly by Mike himself. Through the high times, and the low times of this sensational and unique flying machine, this book is a welcome opportunity for me to pay a deserving tribute to the truly remarkable aircraft that shaped my life – the life of that seven-year-old boy.’ In this definitive account of the rise and fall of the world's greatest aircraft, Bannister explores its origins, development, service, highs, lows and, finally, the terrible crash which ended its flying life.
