Description

The RS range of punch sets includes several different types to suit your needs, from our own brand RS PRO and also well-known brands such as Bahco, Stanley, Gedore and Facom to name a few: Meather Molding and Shaping - a bone folder helps create creases in leather and smooths out leather without marking it. A mallet lets you strike other tools, helping to evenly spread force without damaging it (ideal for punches). A skiving tool thins the edge of leather, making it easier to fold, stitch, and layer.

Spring Pin Punch - Spring pin punches are used for removing roll pins, a type of mechanical fastener. For this reason, spring pin punches are also called roll pin punches and are specially shaped to remove roll pins without causing damage or becoming jammed. Drift Punch - Sometimes referred to as a pokey, this punching tool is often used for enlarging previously made holes. It can also be used for aligning holes prior to bolting.Centre Punch- A common type of punch with a semi blunted end. This is typically used to mark a centre for drilling in a piece. By creating a small recess for the drill bit to rest in, the drill is assured a greater chance of staying on course. Wad Punch - Have interchangeable heads and are used to cut accurate circles into textile materials. They can even be used on thin metal to make washers. Parallel Pin Punch - A parallel pin punch is often employed to remove pins from mechanical assemblies. When a pin is too tight to remove by hand, the correctly sized parallel pin punch can be employed to drive it loose. Punch sets are ideal for punching neat holes in a variety of materials. Whether in textiles, woodworking or metalworking, a set of punch tools allows the operator to drive objects into the material, or form an impression on a workpiece. Sharp at one end, and hardened and flat at the other, a punch can be used with a hammer to achieve the desired results.

Leather Stitching Tools - to stitch leather, you can use leather needles (sharp enough to pierce leather, in various sizes), waxed threads (wax coatings provide strength, and reduce friction when stitching), and a stitching pony (a tool to hold the pieces in place). If the end of a roll pin punch is damaged or deformed, it should be discarded. It is virtually impossible to regrind the tip of the roll pin punch and properly shape the center projection. Roll pin punches are designed with a small projection in the center of the pin tip to support the circumference of the roll pin. The tips of roll pin punches are not flat and should never be used on regular solid pins. If a roll pin punch is used on a solid pin, it will mar or mark the pin.

Paper. Card. Leather. Fabric. Plastic. Cork. Rubber. Whatever material you’re working with, we've got the perfect puncher. Roll pin punches are used to drive roll pins. Standard pin punches should never be used on a roll pin. Because of the hollow, thin wall construction of a roll pin, a standard pin punch will often collapse, mar or distort the end of the pin or be driven into, and jammed inside, the hollow core of the roll pin. When choosing a roll pin punch, select one that is no larger than the compressed diameter of the pin. If a punch is used that is larger than the pin, the surrounding metal in which the pin is seated can be damaged. Also, a roll pin punch should not be used which is smaller than the compressed diameter of the pin. If this occurs, it may be possible to drive the punch through the hollow center of the roll pin.
