Description

It’s a foil type shaver that works in straight and forth passes over the face like other foil type shavers. Before the first use, plug your shaver for recharging the battery and do not unplug it before 2 hours although the battery is already recharged (it will take only 1 hour for a full charge from the next recharge). This process will make your battery healthier and keep the battery duration consistent. After unplugging the shaver be prepared for your shave and start the power button. You’ll easily find the power button at the front of the shaver that is coated with rubber for soft touch use. After starting the power, pass the shaver like other foil shavers. You can use water, foam, gel or soap to have wet and refreshing shaves since all the new generation Series 5 shavers are wet/dry featured. I cannot vouch for the longevity of battery life as I use, test, and review shavers, razors, and other products over a monthly period usually. I have not found any complaints as yet about the longevity of battery life, which is encouraging. Will the 51xx generation of the Series 5 be discontinued soon, now that Braun has released the new family of Series 7/6/5 shavers? For that matter, will the old Series 7 be discontinued soon too? Regarding the price of the replacement heads, you are pretty much on point. Three cassettes will amount to the price of a new shaver. However, given the benefits and the convenience of an electric shaver, particularly one that yields great results, I think it’s worth it. So after i read this article and the best razor 2021 guide(excellent both articles)i decide to increase the budget a little and go for the “old” series 5. Easy Clean System – Braun states the blades can be cleaned without removing the blade head. A user may run water through the whole shaver’s head, and then water runs through the bottom of the head with any shaving debris.

At least at this moment, the price difference between the 5090cc and the 5030s is marginal. Braun Series 5 5090cc vs 5190cc/5195cc Other visual changes are the S5 and Wet & Dry text on the front part of the shaver and a new 3 level battery display indicator.

My first advice would be to give the Series 5 another chance. While it’s not the best shaver out there, it’s definitely a very capable one. Since you’ve been using rotary shavers for years, I think there’s still a lot of room for improvement since you’ve recently switched to a foil shaver. I wrote a detailed guide on how to get a close shave here, I think you may find some useful bits of information there. Thanks for this very good review. Could answer me the following questions: 1. Which are the exact differences between the models 5090cc and 5050cc on the European market – do they really have different cleaning stations and is it worth to go for the higher spec one? 2. Is there also one of the new 51* models that comes with a cleaning station and can be charged during shaving? 3. Does the shaving head come in one part and is manually similarly hard to clean as the series 9 one? 4. Has the cleaning station the same size in comparison to the series 9 one? 5. Is the trimmer any different to the series 9 one which I find quite marrow and I don’t like the slightly round shape? Thank you very much in advance. Reply That is correct, the 5040 and 5140 are both suitable for wet & dry operation, while the 5030 is a dry only model. Between the 5040 and 5140, if the price is similar, I would go for the 5140 (it has slightly better battery life and 3 vs 2 level battery indicator). However, if the price difference is significant, you can confidently get the 5040 (performance-wise they’re pretty much identical). The 5140s has a 3 level battery indicator and can’t be used while the shaver is plugged into the mains. Just like other Braun shavers, the ones that include a cleaning station are the CC models (standing for Clean & Charge), like the 5195cc. This is a safety precaution that’s present with all wet & dry shavers. The dry only models like the 5090cc or 5030s can also be used when charging via the cord. 3. Price

I am in the market for a new electric shaver. I want to get the closest fastest shave I can while still meeting some other requirements. Cost is not an issue, but I’ve ruled out some of the top-end shavers like the Braun Series 9 and the Panasonic Arc 5 because of the large size of the head. I have sideburns and often a mustache or goatee too, and I think trying to follow the edges or shave the space between my sideburns and mustache/goatee would be like trying to parallel park a school bus! I was also very excited about the new series 7/6/5 family, but because of the larger frame around the head I have ruled those out too. I don’t want a bulky head obstructing my view of the foils as I try to shave along the edges of my beard. Truly hilarious how Braun manages to complicate this so insanely. OMG! The other, more significant thing is: as i told you, i use the pop up trimmer a lot and find it much better than the individual beard trimmer from Braun that i also bought. Reply

The Series 3 (particularly the ProSkin models that come with a better shaving head than the basic S3 like your 300s) are decent shavers in that price range, but I would not recommend them to users with coarse beards. The Series 5 is in my opinion a significant jump in performance, so yes, you should get better results. Also, my guess is that in an attempt to get a clean shave, you may have pressed the shaver too hard. That, plus an excessive number of passes can cause razor burn and bumps. Considering those exact prices and the performance differences between the Series 5, 7 and 9, I think getting the 5030s makes the most sense. With the 5140 you’ll only be getting wet/dry use compared to the 5030s; however the Series 5 is really good during a dry shave, so most users won’t be missing out on much. Besides, you can use the 5030s with the cord plugged in. I do prefer the Series 7 over the 5 as it’s just a bit faster and more comfortable, but the price difference in this case is pretty steep. Charging and Battery – The rechargeable Li-Ion should provide a user with 50 minutes of runtime, and it takes approximately 1 hour for the battery to charge fully.

For shaving a short, light to medium beard any of the two will do just fine. They are similar in the respect that they feature 3 blades, are suitable for wet & dry use and cost roughly the same — the prices can fluctuate though.Thank you for your comment. That would be a very reasonable conclusion. Both are waterproof, but the 5030s is a dry-only shaver as a safety precaution since it can also work with the cord plugged in. Please note that if you use shaving cream with your Series 5, you’llhave tomanually clean any lather or soap residues before placing the shaver into the cleaning station. Between the Series 3 and 5, the latter is by far the better shaver. It is superior in every way and it shaves a lot better than the price difference might suggest. That MicroComb technology of the Series 3 simply refers to the middle trimmer that should capture longer hairs. However, the one on the Series 5 is a lot better.
