Fans of the show and books will know that Azula is a complex character with a long story and this book delves into her psyche and inner feelings.

I wonder if it's a prequel to something else Azula-related coming out in the future, as it mostly seems to reflect on her character a bit and hint a bit at the future. Azula, in her spiritual journey, blames the way she is due to those around her who did not give her a fighting chance, like her mother, her domineering father, her friends.

When they realize that Azula hadn't found peace in her dream, they force her out of the temple for her own safety. Sanity Slippage: The spirit of the temple clearly has never dealt with someone as mentally troubled as Azula, and the more it digs into her mind to try and fail to reach her, the more unstable it becomes in turn. Chiyou is sitting on the ground, restrained and surrounded, and looking at her comrades in disbelief. In fact, Azula’s love life has nothing to do with the critical elements of her character that have caused her life to fall apart.

Whole-Plot Reference: The whole story is one for Zuko Alone; One of the Fire Nation Royal Siblings gets seperated from their group, gets taken in by a stranger in their moment of need, and has a series of flashbacks/visions before seemingly doubling down on their principles at the end (complete with a dramatic proclamation of their name, lineage and perceived birthright), seemingly having failed to learn anything of note but also clearly feeling an impact deep down.
