Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) SpaceFit Sound creates sound specifically for your location. The best audio is designed for you, whether you're big or small, long or short. Simply calibrate your television in minutes. Even when Dolby Atmos isn’t available, the screen can still make sense of the incoming signal, and steer accordingly. Even in HDR content mastered at 4,000 nits, the Q80T retains all specular highlights details, although the TV’s default factory settings make these look brighter than reference. Ironically, this actually led to some clipping with the brightest highlight details. When it comes to TV tuners, there are both satellite and terrestrial options. There's also a common interface slot for those that require it.

Connect the QE55Q80BATXXU to your home’s Wi-Fi and make the most of unlimited entertainment on the incredible QLED display. Once linked up, you can enjoy a huge collection of apps and services, including:Incidentally, the 50-inch Q80B doesn’t have physical height speakers like the rest of the range, instead relying on virtualisation.

Featuring Quantum HDR 1500 powered by HDR10+, you’ll enjoy incredible detail with vibrant colour in everything you watch – just as the directors intended. Every frame is optimised to give you breath-taking images from the dark corners of a horror film to a sun-drenched beach. And, Direct Full Array technology gives precise, pin-sharp contrast across the whole screen. You’ll never miss a moment with Samsung. It’s the first mid-range 55-incher that we’ve seen this year, but it sets a formidable benchmark thanks to its dynamic and solid picture, substantial sound and typically exhaustive app selection. Percentage Luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Streaming service support is extensive. There’s Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Britbox, Now, and Apple TV+, to name just a few. UK buyers expecting to find Freeview Play as the default terrestrial TV service will find only vanilla Freeview, but thankfully all the main channel catch-up apps are on board, including BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 and My5. The good news? Samsung now allows dynamic tone mapping to be disabled for more strictly accurate reproduction of HDR material. If you switch the Q80T’s ‘Local Dimming’ setting from ‘Standard’ (the default) to ‘High’, it will disable dynamic tone mapping, thus preserving more detail within, especially bright areas on-screen. This wasn’t even an option on the Q70R, where dynamic tone mapping was active at all times. If you’re as obsessed with accuracy as us, this is a most welcome addition. Samsung Q80T review: Gaming On this 4K Smart TV, youexperience depth and dimension on screen just like in real life. Real Depth Enhancer mimics how the human eye interprets depth by increasing foreground contrast, making it ideal for nature shows and other real-life programmes.

The effort Samsung has put in here has paid off. The Q80T sounds solid and the degree to which the sound isn’t restricted to the TV is impressive. There’s no surround effect as such (nor would you expect one), but the bullets fired at K’s car in Blade Runner 2049 emerge into the room satisfyingly. It’s a significantly more open and solid sound than expected at this price, particularly from a TV with more or less invisible speakers, and that makes for an engaging delivery. When in Intelligent Mode, the processor works in tandem with the Light Sensor to dynamically manage picture settings according to ambient light. It works well, and if you’re the type of viewer who forgets, or simply can’t be bothered, to footle around in the Picture Settings menu, then it’s a great viewing option. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Our only issue here is that the grain is a little too pronounced. You can fix it by switching on Noise Reduction or reducing Sharpness further, but the former introduces a bit of smearing to faces as characters move their heads and the latter results in a softer picture than is ideal. Films with this much grain are pretty rare these days, and you don’t want to get rid of it entirely anyway, but some TVs strike a better balance than the Q80T.Subtitles and audio description information displayed on electronic programme guide more info panel
