The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, after all, and here it is just its own entity, with no one element yelling over any other. I don’t find anything fresh about it herbal yes but there’s still something in it but I just can’t make any sense of cute bottle! My mother-in-law is a very elegant lady with great taste in everything so if she has given it a thumbs up that's good enough for me. At first spray it smells very powdery to my nose, but once it settles I get more of the oakmoss and patchouli. Trying to remember why I dislike it so much but also kind of want to try it again there’s something about it I want to make, but it’s just too strong and it almost kind of reminds me of a strong cat spray ( and y’all know about cats know what I mean !

I couldn't wait to try it so I spritzed a tiny bit on my wrist as I walked outoors and was immediately enamoured.

The funny thing is, this is a loud, possibly ostracizing scent but when I asked my super smeller son what it smelled like he said- I don’t smell anything It just smells like you, mom. The chamomile may just be too much for me, as there are few instances where I like chamomile in perfume (Fougere Royale is one).

Also, sometimes I feel as though some perfumes wear me instead of the other way around, but that’s not the case with AE. My SIL wore it years ago, she passed young some years back and I wanted to visit with her in that time/place again through this scent.

You can be trivial about the differences in the modern in comparison with the vintage, but at the end of the day the two smell the same. For a fragrance to have been reformulated many times since its inception and still be this good, well, I think that’s amazing.I hated high school and passed all of my classes with flying colors, just so I could get the hell out of there! I was trying to figure out what it reminded me of and I realized it smells exactly how Sen-Sen tastes. Chanel's Sycomore is a different kind of nature, more rugged and elemental; Aromatics Elixir smells vernal and green but more cultivated, an elegant old walking park with an English woodland garden vibe, wildflowers in a tended field. I'd been meaning to hunt down a vintage bottle (oakmoss mostly) but can anyone please tell me if it REALLY makes a big difference?
