As the enlightenment is accepted to be related to letting go of the worldly pleasures according to Buddhism, Manson takes this as an example to justify his opinions. It is what you care about that drives your happiness and what you are willing to overcome that drives the value in anything in your life. Well, if I had received any help from this book, that would be with 'not giving a f*ck' about this book, and move on. As Bunk Moreland said in The Wire (which, fuck you, I still downloaded) to his partner Detective McNulty: “That’s what you get for giving a fuck when it wasn’t your turn to give a fuck. It’s the first truly no BS guide to flourishing in a crazy, crazy world—a truly counterintuitive approach to living a good life.

And that's a dangerous thing, to start along with a system that accepts 'expecting the negative to happen to be a positive thing'. And when he's not talking about himself or his sexual exploits, he's mansplaining Eastern philosophy and reminding us that the key to happiness is the acceptance of our own death, which is the only thing I'm thinking about after finishing this book.Popular blogger Manson (Models: Attract Women Through Honesty, 2011) criticizes self-help books for their fundamentally flawed approach of telling readers they're special, assuring them that they can surpass--but, notably, not solve--problems, and encouraging them to embrace their exceptionalism. By adding a healthy dose of humor and a fresh perspective from today’s real world, these authors make the case for guidelines that stick—just don’t be fooled by their light-hearted, easy-to-read style. Before long, his off-the-cuff voice was resonating with a much broader audience via his brilliantly counterintuitive essays on happiness. Her pension is on its last legs and she’s probably going to die in a diaper thinking she’s in Candyland. Even the almost annoying number of 'f*cks' diminished after a few chapters, to proceed along what felt like a very long rant.

I found that this book contained mostly opinions, with a few hidden facts chucked in for good measure. It encourages self-reflection and introspection, prompting you to reevaluate what truly matters to you.Very easy to read, not a chore or not like a text book on self help that i would have expected as a first time reader of anything like this. Though Manson and his narrator at times try too hard to succeed, the audio delivers enough worthwhile ideas to make it useful.
