This is the first Dog Man book not to feature a George & Harold intro or a recap of "Our Story Thus Far." When Daryl mentions that the Cannery Grow Factory was destroyed, he is referring to in Chapter 7 of Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas. Piggy is enjoying freedom, but it is short lived as Crunky and Bub join him, singing the Friendly Friends theme song to the tune of Jingle Bells. Piggy silenced them, as they have found Dog Man, asleep under the tree with Chief and Nurse Lady. He whispers instructions to exact revenge, but Crunky never heard and yells, waking Dog Man who chases them. They fly into a sandwich shop called “The Beach” where Daryl and his Uncle Larry opened a headquarters, which Piggy will use for evil.

HD is watching TV at home and discover that Munchy is on the loose, and the good guys are heading to jail. 80-HD flies to Petey and Son, and crashes through the wall. He puts on a stop motion show for Petey and Li'l Petey about the situation, and they crash out through the wall. Petey gets angry that 80-HD didn't use the door, so 80-HD crashes through the wall again, and goes out the door. They arrive at the pond meeting Molly, and Li'l Petey decides to get out the Superhero costumes. Petey says that Li'l Petey uses love when everything's well, but when there's danger you can only fight hate with hate. Li'l Petey doesn't know if he's right or wrong, but he decides to find out. When 80-HD is about to reattach the door on Petey and Son's, the stripes on his arms disappear. A similar error also occurs in Dog Man to Petey. HD finished fixing Petey and his son's home, when the sippy cups destroyed it and 80-HD has to start all over again! The sippy cups are on the loose, and capture Grampa and Big Jim. 80-HD tries to defeat the sippy cups, but one of them squirts at him with apple juice, causing him to fall apart. The malic acid from the apple juice destroys 80-HD. Then, the same sippy cup swallows him. The second sippy cup eats Grandpa and Big Jim. Grampa calls Big Jim "buddy." Big Jim tortures Grampa later on for the rest of the book for this, sparking their argument. Meanwhile, Lil Petey and Molly entertain Sarah with their silly songs, to Petey's chagrin. They use outhouses because they need the bathroom. Petey takes Sarah to where it all began. Aside from that, he also does not like to take baths as shown in Dog Man and the Wrath of Petey and Dog Man: For Whom The Ball Rolls.

Psychology Today Magazine (August 25, 2015) and Scientific American Magazine (July 14, 2008) shows that scientists found out fear and anger links to dopamine, a neurotransmitter causing people to feel pleasure. In this book, Piggy gave the Friendly Friends a lesson on dopamine in Chapter 9. [3] [4] A collection of evil stuff can be seen when Petey shows Sarah Hatoff his dangerous items. These are references to the past books in the series.

Meanwhile, Li'l Petey is still asking why, and he answers that sometimes you have to hate people for it. He says that sometimes hate is all you have left. Li'l Petey asks about love, but Petey thinks it is only for happy people like Li'l Petey. He says that Grampa was really mean to him, and was meaner to his mom. Li'l Petey asks about his Gramma, but Petey doesn't answer, and instead asks Li'l Petey to eat his food. Meanwhile, Sarah is still interviewing Grampa until Dog Man comes, disguised as Cat Man. Grampa is filled with joy, grabs Dog Man, then stops at a bookstore to smash. Dog Man then ties Grampa's tail to a fire hydrant and cuffs him. The mayor is watching the news report and tells Mr. Snookums how he hired "Cat Man", and how he's the greatest. Crud gets angry that he's been captured, and throws Dog Man. Dog Man's helmet falls off, and the mayor and Sarah now know his true identity. Sarah wants to helps him, while the mayor runs out of his house, wanting to destroy him. He has the head of a man, the body of a dog, and the heart of a hero!!! He is employed as a cop, and is occupied at home with the creativity of Lil' Petey and 80-HD. Dog Man and the League of Misfits - Bonus Comic from The Adventures of Captain Underpants: 25th and a Half Anniversary Edition Dog Man comes home to Li'l Petey and 80-HD working on a story for Dog Man. Li'l Petey says to 80-HD, "It's our story. We can color it any way we want!". Dog Man tells what happened that night, and Li'l Petey and 80-HD decide to cheer him up with their bedtime story. After Dog Man falls asleep, they both start to work on a new invention. Meanwhile, at Cat Jail, Petey's Father (aka Grampa) is working on a new invention called the motorbrain, that makes you large and very powerful. Big Jim starts to get annoying, and Grampa shouts at him, hurting his feelings. Big Jim cries and Grampa decides to test the motorbrain on him. Big Jim puts the helmet on, and becomes gigantic. He now calls himself "Snug", and starts to cuddle with Grampa. Grampa manages to escape, and falls through the "Hang in There!" poster. Grampa soon discovers that it's an escape tunnel, and smiles evilly.

Petey's youthful "mistakes" and "bad choices" were chronicled in the graphic novel where he made his primary debut, Super Diaper Baby 2: The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers. Sarah: In Dog Man Unleashed, it was revealed that she is his biggest fan. In A Tale of Two Kitties and Dog Man and Cat Kid, she would help him find Li'l Petey whenever he was missing. The design for the flying submarine used by Uncle Larry is inspired from the illustrations produced for a Japanese publication. The artworks are created by an artist who goes to sign every paintings as "Kyo-62". Demodex Mites are real, microscopic creatures who lives in the skin of mammals such as humans (also in their faces) and pigs. They have eight legs and are appearing at night. One of the facts are not true, in which their favorite food is pumpkin pie. This is the second time someone has mentioned Batman. The first was Li'l Petey in Dog Man: Brawl of The Wild. Note: it Could be Possible that this book takes, place About one week after the events of Grime and Punishment, Likely due to Petey mentioning some things that happen in that book as a week ago. When Sarah and Petey see the hospital patients eating the candy and then Sarah says, "Speaking of weird transitions..." Chief and Nurse Lady go with Dog Man to swing, but he chews it and they fall. Chief is worried it was bad, apologizing, but Nurse Lady is only sorry it didn’t happen sooner. Meanwhile, Petey is trying to get help to rebuild his lab at Donna’s Construction, but Li'l Petey and Molly turn up, asking “Wally” to read their comic. Recently, he's been a secondary character, as the series shifted to focus on Petey and his son & his journey to become a better person.

He can not be made in real life, as cutting off a head is pretty much death, and there is no Living Spray in real life. Petey's red cardigan sweater and tie were based on the clothing often worn by beloved children's television host, Fred Rogers from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Dog Man also makes an appearance in Frogzilla from Cat Kid Comic Club: Collaborations along with Chief. Turns out Booger Breath adopted the dogs, and his bulldog is chewing on the building. He makes him drop it with a biscuit and they walk off, the building sitting in half. In the mess, Crunky and Bub leave to find Piggy’s plans to escape that they lost, and Piggy decides to fly off with an apprehensive Daryl and leave them behind. Crunky and Bub cry when they are left. When all hope of survival seemed lost, Genie S. Lady got the idea of sewing Greg's head into Officer's knight body. Everybody cheered and the second operator called her a genius. After the surgery, a new hero was finally unleashed: Dog Man! After the surgery, the news of the surgery spreads like wildfire and there are news articles about Dog Man being the new best cop. Unfortunately, Petey finds out about the news, and he is angered by how he accidentally created the world's best cop, so he came up with an idea to kill Dog Man.Piggy is in awe of the laboratory because Uncle Larry is a genius. Piggy is further selfish, not showing appreciation at all. He falls in love with a big submarine, thinking it is for himself alone, but is angry to be joined by the gang. The submarine is equipped with shrinking machine “Size-O-Tron” and it goes outside, soon growing Supa Big, and Sarah Hatoff and Dog Man have to go in pursuit when they saw the growing size of the flying submarine. When George and Harold are selling comics, their stand has the same design to Lucy's psychiatrist booth from Peanuts. Chief is very surprised that Dog Man is wearing a cone. He takes Dog Man home, and Nurse Lady says she notices (and likes) Chief's slippers. Chief is happy (although, his expression looks like he has a crush on Nurse Lady). Chief leaves, and Dog Man describes how the day went to Li'l Petey and 80-HD. Both try to assure him that everything is gonna be okay and leave the "Supa Pillow Fort." They then go up to the grand ballroom.
