If you’re looking for another Vama Veche kind of village by the Romanian coastline, then you will be disappointed when you’ll discover there isn’t one. The beach and the sea are not as important when you visit Vama Veche, replaced by the overall experience instead. But this doesn’t mean that these are not nice – however, you go there for the experience more than anything else. I wouldn’t recommend it for a chill and relaxed weekend by the beach, but I would recommend it if you plan a weekend of clubbing. If you also plan to stay here, it won’t be cheap. Ever since a handful of cool Uluwatu restaurants opened at the entrance to this hidden bay, Thomas Beach is no longer a secret – though it’s still one of the quietest beaches on Bali’s Bukit peninsula (and arguably still the best beach in Bali!). Accessible only via a gravel lane and then a winding set of stairs, this secluded strip of white sand beach is well worth descending down the cliff for. Fringed by turquoise waters and dramatic boulders that protrude from the sand, this is postcard-perfection to a tee. Eforie Nord has seen massive investments recently and as a result (combined with the lower prices) it was the most popular beach in Romania last year, taking the crown from Mamaia. So definitely one to keep an eye on!
