This is a popular myth. Elizabeth Taylor’s eyes appeared purple in some photos due to lighting, makeup, and clothing. Her eyes were actually blue, which you can see in most of her photos. What is the Cultural Significance of Purple Eyes? The same mutation can also cause lymphedema-distichiasis syndrome. Symptoms include swelling of the limbs, double eyelashes, and heart problems. Internal Eye Inflammation I'm more of a man's woman. With men, there's a kind of twinkle that comes out. I sashay up to a man. I walk up to a woman. But Taylor's fame was also touched by tragedy and loss. In 1958, she became a young widow when her husband, pioneering film producer Mike Todd, was killed in a plane crash. After his death, Taylor became embroiled in one of the greatest Hollywood love scandals of the era when she began an affair with Todd's close friend, Eddie Fisher. Fisher divorced Debbie Reynolds and married Taylor in 1959. The couple stayed married for five years until she left Fisher for Burton.

Unfortunately, my blue (and unfortunately rather short-sighted) eyes will not manage to ever have a fragrance named after them. The violet-blue and unforgettable eyes of Elizabeth Taylor, however, are world-famous.......and the wonderful scent "Violet Eyes" was born...... In Classic Hollywood Myths we take a look at all the myths about the Golden Age of Hollywood. What really happened? Are these ‘urban legends’ true or false? Classic Hollywood Central looks into it!

1965

Violet is an actual but rare eye color that is a form of blue eyes. It requires a very specific type of structure to the iris to produce the type of light scattering of melanin pigment to create the violet appearance.

She soon signed a contract with Universal Studios, and made her screen debut at the age of 10 in There's One Born Every Minute (1942). She followed that up with a bigger role in Lassie Come Home (1943) and later The White Cliffs of Dover (1944).I don't want to be a sex symbol. I would rather be a symbol of a woman who makes mistakes, perhaps, but a woman who loves. But what colour were Elizabeth Taylor's eyes? The answer is, they were not purple, as many believe, but dark blue, and merely appeared to be a purple colour when exposed to lighting, make-up, particular hues of clothing or as a result of photographic re-touching. True purple coloured eyes are extremely rare, and almost always occur in people with albinism — the condition in which a person is born with little or no pigment in their eyes, skin or hair. Albinos possess low levels of melanin, the natural substance that determines pigment. It is this deficiency that creates purple eyes. It all begins with a look. Violet or blue, Elizabeth Taylor’s gaze was one of a kind. Developed by perfumer Carlos Benaïm, who famously created Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds, Violet Eyes was launched in 2010 and inspired by her unforgettable eye color. The "sensual floral" notes of white peach, jasmine, purple rose, peony, cedar, and amber are feminine and captivating; a composition Elizabeth adored.
